Veterans United Home Loans Named One of Fortune Magazine’s Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance™ for 2026
PR Newswire
COLUMBIA, Mo., Oct. 7, 2026
COLUMBIA, Mo., Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — For the 11th consecutive year, Great Place To Work® and Fortune have recognized Veterans United Home Loans as one of Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance™ in 2026.

Veterans United ranked No. 13, climbing seven spots since 2025, and is one of three Missouri-based companies to make the 2026 ranking. The company is also one of only two Veteran-focused companies on the nationwide list.
Founded in Columbia, Mo., in 2002, Veterans United has grown into a national full-service lender with nearly 4,900 employees and offices in 20 states, including Virginia Beach, Va.; Clarksville, Tenn.; San Diego, Calif.; and Honolulu.
The company closed more than $26 billion in loans in fiscal year 2025 and has been the nation’s top VA purchase lender every fiscal year for the past decade, according to Department of Veterans Affairs Lender Statistics.
“I think the greatest part of a recognition like this is that no one here is doing the work because they’re hoping it lands us on a list,” said Ian Franz, director of culture at Veterans United Home Loans. “It’s a natural byproduct of people showing up each day with a genuine excitement to be together, to work hard at what they’re doing, and to try to make a lasting impact on our Veterans and their families. I really do think it’s as simple as that, and when you do that day after day, you eventually step back and realize you’ve got something pretty special.”
The Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance list is highly competitive. Great Place To Work, the global authority on workplace culture, determines its lists using its proprietary Trust Index™ Survey to evaluate and certify thousands of organizations in America’s largest ongoing annual workforce study, based on over 1.3 million survey responses and data from companies representing more than 7.3 million employees.
Survey responses reflect a comprehensive picture of the workplace experience. Honorees were selected based on their ability to offer positive outcomes for employees regardless of job role, work status, or other demographic factor.
“Congratulations to the Fortune Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “People are at the heart of work in every industry, and finance is no exception. These companies show how delivering for your people drives financial performance and turns fear of the future into the confidence to win.”
Earlier this year, Veterans United ranked on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® list and also ranked No. 8 on the 2026 PEOPLE® Companies that Care list.
